02/01/11. In 2010, Mexico's murders numbered 15,273 people. The Mexican government reported that this figure increased from 2009 murders that numbered 9,616 people. The reason is DRUG trafficking. 02/02/11. French consumer confidence index decreased to 36% in December 2010. This is the lowest consumer confidence index figure since August 2010. France's November 2010 consumer confidence index was 3% higher. More to come, stay tune.
02/03/11. In Spain, November's 2010 Industrial production rose 2.7% from January to November 2010. Compared to their January to October 2010 figure that showed a decline of 3.8% . More to come, stay tune.
02/04/11. President Obama's official Unemployment Rate in the United States is 9.4%. Today it is expected that another 100,000 Americans will apply for unemployment insurance. This morning the Obama administration said that 36,000 new jobs were created last week. 66,000 LESS JOBS THAN EXPECTED. The Obama's administration said that the official unemployment rate is now 9%. Meantime in the United States and around the world Stagflation is creeping in the world's economy. Commodity prices keep on inching up/increasing. The President believes that high unemployment is to be expected in the United States because employers are used to producing more with less people. 02/07/11. Egypt President, Hosni Mubarak was able to calm protesters by offering a 15% pay increase to all government workers. That alone took at least 33% of the protesters off the streets. 02/10/11. Yesterday "GTR-TV" contributed a live video feed to the 8 a.m. opening of the Chicago Auto Show. Leading the kick off to this event was the Midwest Automobile Media Association, (MAMA). There were some interruptions/breaks to the live feed video during the days event. Only Dodge and part of Suzuki coverage was interrupted for a short time. The antenna was not working properly during this short period. It was terrific to be part of yesterdays media event. We're pleased you tuned in. 02/16/11. Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn has announced he will try to borrow over $8 Billion dollars to assist in paying the state's bills. More to come, stay tune.
02/17/11. Britain's inflation rate in January 2011 jumped from 2% to 4%. The Bank of England had a much lower estimate. The 2% inflation rate increase has put Britain's future economic situation as unknown. More to come, stay tune.
02/18/11. The World Bank said that increased food prices have pushed an extra 44 million people worldwide into the serious part of poverty. The concern that the World Bank is that these people can within six months to a year become/enter the malnutrition category. 02/20/11. Brazil's President, Dilma Rousseff won a vote to rein in their governments fiscal deficit and curb inflation. Their country's hourly worker's minimim rate will be a limited increase that is tied to their last years inflation rate. More to come, stay tune.
02/21/11. China officially passed Japan to become the world's number two economy. Japan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2010 was estimated at $5.5 trillion dollars. China's GDP in 2010 was $5.9 trillion dollars.
02/22/11. Today is Election Day in Chicago! Time to cast your vote. Expected Chicago voter turn out is about 49% to 51%. If your a registered voter, CAST YOUR VOTE TODAY! You can Make a difference. The polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00p.m. Mayor Daley, the current executive for the City of Chicago won with 51% of the voter turn out. He has been in office for 22 years. This is the first time in 64 years that there will not be a current mayor running for Chicago's mayoral office. Lots of Aldermanic races that are non-contested. Need to find your polling place to cast your vote. Call the Chicago Board of Elections at (312) 269-7870. If they can't find your name, call (312) 269 - 1604. 02/23/11. Candidate Rahm Emanuel has won the race for Mayor for Chicago. He will be sworn in May 2011 as the 46th Mayor of Chicago. The new Mayor elect won with 55% of the vote. His immediate challenger Gery Chico got 24% of the votes cast in this election. Carol Moseley Braun received 9% and Miguel del Valle got 9% of the vote. More to come, stay tune. 02/23/11. Susana Mendoza won her race for Chicago's City Clerk race. She got 60% of the vote.
02/24/11. Industrial growth in India slowed to a 21 month low in December 2010. India's output was only 1.6% higher than December 2009. In January 2011, America's Industrial production declined by 0.1% compared with December's 2010 number. From January 2010 to January 2011 America's industrial growth slowed to 5.2% in the same month from 6.3% in December 2010. More to come, stay tune.
02/25/11. Germany's inflation rate in January 2011 was revised up by a tenth of a percentage point to 2.0%.In Britain inflation rose to 4% in January 2011 from 3.7% in December 2010. This makes it the 14th month that Britain's inflation rate exceeded their Central Banks 2.0% inflation rate goal. In China, their inflation rate rose to 4.9% in January 2011 from December 2010 inflation rate of 4.6%. China's official goal for inflation in their country is 4%. They have exceeded that number.
02/26/11. In the United States of America, there are 68.5 million Catholics, 16.4 million Baptists, and 17 million Methodists. These numbers are good estimates. Give or take 5%. There are closet Christians that do not worship on a regular basis. Hard to count. The estimated money/donations annually to the Catholic Church from their followers in the United States of America is about $1.5 billion dollars. There is no way to really calculate these donated funds. Usually cash and all religion institutions pay No taxes on this money. All tax free. Is it right or is it wrong? You decide. 02/27/11. The mining company BHP Billiton boosted its energy portfolio by making a deal to purchase mining shale gas assets in Arkansas for $4.8% billion dollars. The mining company earns a fifth of its profits from oil and gas resources.
02/28/11. The Parliament of Kosovo formed a new government. The new government elected Hashim Thaci to serve a second term as Prime Minister. The Kosovo public has linked the Prime Minister to organized crime, a murder and harvesting human organs for sale after the Kosovo War in 1999. More to come, stay tune.
