03/29/07. The U.S Senate has passed the $123.2 Billion Emergency Spending War Bill HR 1591 and a time table to get troops out of Iraq by March 2008 by a 51-47 vote. Republican Senators Smith (OR) and Hagel (NE) voted with the Democrats to get the bill passed. Senator Lieberman (I) voted nay with the Republicans. Not voting were Democratic Senators Enzi (WA) and Johnson (SD). Included in the bill were $6.7 Billion for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, $2 Billion for Airport Security, a total of $4.2 Billion for American Agricultural Farmers and Children Health Care not just War Supplementals. $96 Billion is dedicated to the troops plus Veteran Affairs. The Appropriation Committee Chairman is Domocratic Senator Robert Byrd (WV). We cannot Micro Manage a Terrorist War by voting for a timetable relative to Troop Withdrawl. The timetable in this bill encourages and strengthens the Terrorists to continue waging attacks on soldiers and killing civillians in Iraq.
03/28/07. The Illinois House of Representatives has passed a bill to allow undocumented persons in Illinois to attain a drivers certificate. This will allow persons without a social security number to drive. Not so shocking! Other forms of ID's are used for people to obtain a drivers license and drive in the U.S.A.. This is a good idea that will allow undocumented people to get auto insurance, to purchase automobiles that will stir economic stability in the auto industry, to contribute to state and federal gasoline taxes when filling up their automobiles, to contribute in sales tax when purchasing an automobile thereby assisting are troubled state deficits, to purchase city stickers that will assist our troubled municipalities and plate stickers to assist our troubled state deficits. This will help Illinois pension problems as well. A driver certificate would be another ID, that could be used to purchase property thereby stirring the housing market again as well. Great for the Economy and Security. :) Bad for the bicycle industry. :( Finally, Great work out of our legislture. The bill will be sent to Illinois State Senate for review and adjustments. More to come, stay tune. Jim Liceaga
03/28/07. Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Hussein Obama addressed the powerful Union, AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trade department in Washington. He said that he will change the way non-union construction firms hire their workers on a job site. No more 1099 employees or independent workers on construction work sites if he is elected President of the United States. The Union membership cheered to hear this message from the junior Senator Barack Hussen Obama. (Only two years as a U.S. Senator). He also continued to say that he was in Selma, Alabama recently where Bloody Sunday occured and believes that the Civil Rights and Equality March during our struggle for equal rights was not a Celebration for African Americans, but a Celebration for America during that time. Remember at that time he lived in Hawia. He didn't experience the inequality of mainland America in the 1960's. When he finished his speech he shook hands with the all Anglo AFL-CIO representatives on the podium he shared. Not one African American or Latino on the stage with him. He did not address reporations from the Union backed construction firms that discriminated for generations past. The same Unions that blocked African American and Latino American workers from the path to middle class by bringing in European immigrants through Ellis Island legally. Only by working independently, as owners of our non-union construction trades were we, minorities able to succeed in racist America of the past. Lets never forget! Lets be real in the history. Selling out to win votes and collect money for his campaign. A CANDIDATE for PRESIDENT. The question is, Who's President! :( Jim Liceaga
03/28/07. Iran will charge the 14 out of the 15 British sailors with spying. The sailors were aboard the frigate HMS Cornwall, inspecting the ship for illegal goods. The British say that their sailors were 1.7 Nautical miles within Iraqi waters at the Mouth of the Shatt al-Arab at the northern end of the Persian Gulf. The Iranians insist that the sailors were in Iranian waters. This happened before in 2004 and was resolved peacefully. Iranians say that the 15th British sailor will be released either today or tomorrow. She is Faye Turney. The British said that they will impose a freeze on Iranian assets, all visas to Iranian officials will not be issued, all visits in and out of Iran will be stopped, trade missions to Iran is put on hold and government to government business will be halted untill all British sailors are freed. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Sayyed Mohamaadali Hussein has said that all the British sailors are in good shape, and comfortable. He wanted their fmilies in Britain to know that the sailors are safe, and being held in much safer condition that working in the Persian Gulf. 03/30/07. After weeks of closed door meetings with U.S. Senators amd the White House has been working on an Immigration Plan. Republican Senators would grant work visas to undocumented immigrants but require them to return to their home country and pay hefty fines ($10,000.00) to become legal U.S. residents. This is only the first draft and will be changed. The first draft plan allows for three year work visas which the plan dubs "Z" visas but the renewal would cost $3,500.00 per renewal. The undocumented worker would have legal status with the visas. Regarding border security, 18,300 border patrol agents and 370 miles of physical fencing would be in place as well as electronic monitoring of the southern border before a temporary worker program could begin. This information may have been leaked out by the President so the public could see how extreme this first draft is. Even conservative Republicans and Immigrant Advocates think this first draft goes too far. President Bush said, "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande". Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and Republican Senators were present at the meeting. The President probably used his buddy, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez to leak this first draft from the extreme Republican U.S. Senators. Last week, a House Bill introduced by Representative Luis Gutierrez (D) Illinois and Jeff Flake (R) Arizona also attempted to appeal to conservatives. It provides six year work visas to undocumented immigrants and requires them at some point during that period to exit the country and re-enter using their work visa. More To Come! Stay Tuned!

03/29/07. Senator Barack Hussein Obama seemed confused as President of the Senate this morning. He had to confer with the parlimetary experts on parlimentary procedures/rules quite often today. U.S. Senators were confused by his actions and had to stop the votes to get a handle on what was on the Senate floor for debate. Better to be sure than to vote on a bill not understood. As a Harvard Graduate and Constitutional expert it was hard to see him so unsure of himself. I'm sure the more times he presides over the U.S. Senate, the better he will get. This has happened before on the Senate floor. But as President of the United States, it could be fatel, not knowing the subject matter before you. or, Maybe it was a Chicago/Illinois political move to confuse the legislative body, than vote? That would show political Genius. Only the Junior Senator from Illinois knows.

The Emergency Funding of U.S. troops must be voted on by April 15th, 2007. More to come, stay tune. Check out our section in this Web Site entitled President News. : )

The jet has a wingspan wider than a football field, is 8 stories tall and seats more than 500 passengers. The flight is a chance for Airbus to prove that the plane will be ready when the first deliveries are made in October to Singapore airlines. Airbus has been beset by management and financial crisis including a two year delay to the A380 that wiped more than euro5 billion (US$6.61 billion) off profit forecasts. Jens Bischoff, Lufthansa's vice president for the Americas commented that this jet represents aviation for the 21st Century. Lufthansa Chief pilot Juergen Raps, who has flown the A380 before said that the jet is nimble and responsive despite the superjumbo's size. He also said, "If I were to compare it to driving, you would think this would be like driving a truck or a bus but inside the plane's cockpit, it's like driving a Ferrari. After the inagural run, Lufthanasa and Airbus will operate a demonstration flight to Chicago on Tuesday.

03/19/07. Carpentersville has been pursuing to pass an English only ordinance targeted at forcing the 40% Hispanic community of the 35,000 Carpentersville residernts to declare English the official language of Carpentersville which doesn't make sense when you consider that the U.S. has Spanish speaking territories. The U.S. also has The Guadalupe Hidalgo treaty of 1848 which indicated that the Mexican culture would not be taken away including the freedom to speak and use the Spanish language which is part of the United States of America. Due to the resulting friction among residents, Hispanics in Carpentersville are being targeted with racial remarks such as "go back to Mexico" and "we don't want you here, go back home." A five month pregnant Hispanic woman/resident voiced fears of even saying 'hi' to anyone for fear of being hurt and expressed concern that if she was attacked could she safely go to and trust the local police force. A 25 year old hispanic male said he'd be happy to learn English if classes were available around his work schedule. I have friends and family as many of us do who immigrated to this Great country from Poland, Italy, Greece, China...the list goes on. These communities have co-habited our neighborhoods for generations spouting their ethnic neighborhood names such as "Little Italy", Greek Town, China Town. These immigrants have had the "freedom/libery" to print neighborhood newspapers as well as conduct business in their neighborhoods in their native tongue without government interference. Many of them who had migrated to this country in their early teens and twenties lived to see their 80 and 90th birthday's knowing but a few words of English. This proposal is a slap in the face of every concerned citizen who marched, fought and rallied in the 60's to uphold and maintain Equal Rights and freedom of speech for all American citizens!

03/13/07. The Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas was destroyed, blown up to make room for a new MEGA gambling complex. The Stardust was built in 1958 by the Mafia. They used money generated from illegal drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling, shakedowns, and theft of property across the United States, mainly in minority areas. It was a grand sight to see it blown up. Unfortunately the same people that owned that hotel and their families, the bad guys have won and made billions of dollars on the backs, the blood of the minorities they victimized and terrorized. America is paying for the abuse the Mafia imposed on people of color in the so called Good Old Days. Social services paid out to generations of people who have been addicted to booze, drugs, and lack of hope. Imagine all the money us tax payers have paid out while a few families made out like bandits. It isn't right and America could figure out and find those families that benefitted. Why should AMERICANS have their property taxes, all taxes and fees increased. Our great grand fathers, grand fathers, fathers, s and now our chidren have paid and built what these politicians are sayng we need to pay again. This Mayor and Govenor selling off/leasing off the peoples assets that generate revenue. Remember we paid for it. 50 year leases is like selling those assets owned by the people. Most of us will not be here to see what really happens to those assets being leased off. All because the Mafia terrorized groups of people back in the so called good old days. Let's find who benefitted from these illegal terroristic actions against minority groups. A social policy that screwed the American TAX PAYER as well. These families need to pay and pay all their assets back to society to get people off the social welfare. Jim Liceaga : )

03/06/07. Vice President's chief of Staff, counsel and friend, Lewis Scooter Libby has been found guilty by a jury after taking ten days to come to their verdict. It was said that a verdict of innocence would prevail, because of the fact that he did not leak the name of any CIA operatve to the press. Instead the verdict was guilty for Lewis Scooter Libby's failure to remember what he said to the Grand Jury and the FBI. There were questions that Lewis Scooter Libby answered when investigators first interviewed him that the defendent answered differently because he didn't recall for fact the exact answer he was first asked. Anyone that has been in court as a defendent on a criminal or civil case can understand this. Your answer can be slightly different than originally or initially answered and that could open up a new can of worms. That is why it is to your benefit to take the 5th when asked about situations you really don't remember. Scooter Libby should have done this. He didn't, and since he is an attorney the Jury gave him no slack. The system in this case works. Getting back to the case, Lewis Libby was found guilty because the jury believed he lied to investigators and to the Grand Jury under oath. For Obstruction of Justice. He is not in trouble for leaking the indentity of Valerie Blame Wilson who was at the time of this entire event a non-operative CIA spy. Her cover was already blown. If she was operating as a CIA spy at the time, Libby would have been prosecuted for leaking the name of a CIA spy under the Intelligence Identity Act. That would have been an Act of Treason. Scooter Libby will Appeal this verdict. The media has said that the President will give him a pardon. I believe that the appeal case will be in favor of the defendent because one of the jurist is a reporter for the Washington Post. A news paper that is critical of the President's administration. This could be beneficial to the defendent. If Lewis Scooter Libby looses his appeal or is not granted a Presidential Pardon, Lewis Scooter Libby could face up to 25 years in jail. The big question is if the Vice President, Cheney will step down. Could Condoleeza Rice, currently Secretary of State, become the first women Vice President? By the way, the nick name Scooter for a grown man is plain silly. If he does go to jail I hope he comes up with a better and tougher nick name. More to come, stay tune. Jim Liceaga :)

03/05/07. The U.S. Olympic Committee is in Chicago to meet city officials, review strategy for hosting the Olympics in America, to check out the sites available for the 2016 Olympics. My opinion, it will cost too much money for the city of Chicago. Tax payers will have to bail out this event. It will displace poor and middle class people currently living in the city. Cause property, property taxes, rents and property insurance in the City of Chicago to increase. Chicago will forever be a city where common folks can't afford to live. Property taxes will increase even further. The Security of the residents of Chicago would be at risk. Special legislation would be passed to limit our freedoms in the city. Terrorist would plan to an incident in the city of Chicago. Do you remember when Mayor Daley in the middle of the night closed the airport on the lake, Meigs Field?
