11/28/07. In Annapolis yesterday Israeli and Palestinian leaders agreed to a framework for achieving peace. The leaders have agreed to meet every other week with the goal of reaching a settlement by the end of next year. Representatives from almost 50 countries who currently have no relationship with Israel were present and support the plan. 11/28/07. ComScore Inc. reported Tuesday that consumers spent $733 million shopping online Monday, a 21% gain from the same day a year ago. While Cyber Monday (the first Monday after Thanksgiving) kicks off the online shopping season, it's not the busiest day. Last year Wednesday December 13th was the busiest online shopping day generating $667 million in sales.

11/28/07. The leaders of the Democratic party and the Cook County Commissioners cannot fina a 9 out of 12 vote needed to pass a huge tax increase for the 2008 budget. Commissioner Beavers was so frustrated that he attacked Commissioner Tony Peraica with racial slurs. The Chairman of the finance committee, John Daley believes that there won't be a vote by Friday. Daley is in favor of the tax increase. In frustration he is cutting off Tony Peraica in mid sentence and calling on fellow commissioners who favor the tax increase instead. Stay Tuned! More To Come!

11/28/07. The Prime Minister of Britain, Gordon Brown is in a scandel re. unauthorized secret fund in the amount of approximately 600,000 pounds given to his Labor Party from a Mr. Abraums. The money was delivered to Labor Party secretary, Ms. Harmen. Gordon Brown was in charge of the Labor Party Finances at the time, around 2003 when all this money was passed around. Better data collection in five African countries and India explains the lower number of people. 2.1 million people died of AIDS last year in 2006, down from a peak of 2.2 million in 2005. 11/30/07. Chicago's Mayor Daley has picked his new Police Superintendent. He is 49 year old Jodi Weis, a former FBI agent from Philadelphia. As a FBI agent, he worked in Chicago from the years 2000 to 2003. His salary will be the highest in paying a Police Superintendent in Chicago's history at $300,000 per year. No details in his contract with the city shared. Jodi Weis is the 1st Superindendent not selected from Chicago's Police Department in 40 years. Chcago's city council needs to vote on this appointment. If voted on, Mr. Weis will start his carreer as Chicago's Police Superintendent by January 16th, 2008. More to come, stay tune.
11/30/07. President Bush has indicated that 2008's U.S. Economy could slow down. Economic growth is expected at 2.7% instead of the 3.4% they were hoping for. Job growth in 2008 could be down 15%. 11/29/07. The President of Philippines, Glory Arroyo has stopped a forced takeover by 30 men linked with the Military. All were arrested. The President was not injured. The men are upset with the President's economic reforms. The poor in the Philippines live on less than $2 dollars per day. President Arroyo is an economist and has a plan called the 789 Initiatives, whereby the Economy can grow 7% in 2007, 8% in 2008, and 9% in 2009. 11/29/07. The Illinois Legislature has voted down the use of the Illinois Fuel Tax to bail out the CTA, or Chicago Transit Authority. Chicago's, Mayor Daley is upset. Illinois legislators are upset that Mayor Daley is trying to squeeze down state residents with his fiscal problems. They say, he managed the CTA for decades and now wants down state residents to bail out his fiscal mismanagement budget. More to come, stay tune.
11/29/07. Venezuala goes to the polls to vote on reforms for the poor. The poor are thrilled with President Hugo Chavez and support his ideals. He calls it 21 Century Socialism. The Middle Class is shrinking and scared. Many of the Middle class and the companies employing them are moving out of the country. 11/29/07. Broadway producers and Stage hand employees in New York City have compromised and came up with a tentative employment agreement. Details of the new contract not completed. Broadway Shows closed down due to this almost three week strike are scheduled to open again for performances by tonight. Producers lost millions of dollars and the economy in New York City suffered. 11/29/07. President of France, Sokozy has told rioting youths that if any of French police are hurt or killed by them that the law will come down strong upon them. French Police have been fired upon in the recent riots in the suburbs of Paris. He also told the riotors that he will order an Independent Investigation to the killing of 2 teenagers by Police. 11/29/07. The United Nations deal with Kosovo and Serbie to be completed by December 10th, 2007. Kosovo to break away from Serbia. Ethnic cleansing result of their recent war has caused both sides distrusting the other to govern. The best way is the break up to start a clean beginning. Russia is upset with the potential break up. They were the country that kept the two together but human right activists believe Russia had no say in the matter since Serbia made its deal long ago with the Soviet Union, not todays Russian Federation. 11/24/07. Australia's Prime Minister, John Howard has lost his re-election yesterday to Kevin Rudd. That ends eleven and a half years of Conservative Party leadership in Australia. 11/23/07. 78% of employers nationwide have given their employees time off on Black Friday. That is up 10% from two years ago. 36% of consumers expected to purchase less toys made in China due to the constant recalls because of lead paint. 58% of U.S. consumers Not to purchase items made in China this Holiday season. Consumers are expected to spend 40% less than last year. In Chicagoland area, consumers will be spending $200 less this Holiday season from last year 2006. Currently, no illness has been found nationwide from lead paint. Lots of deals in the stores to get consumers to open their wallets and purses. Merchants are giving up to 50% discounts and shipping cost discounts. Happy Shopping. I-88 in Illinois had up to 7 miles of back ups. Tens of Thousands of automobiles heading to their favorite stores to take advantage of the best deals. 11/23/07. The Union striking French Train/Transportation workers are conducting sabatage moves against the train lines they are expected to protect and monitor. A number of signal connections of high speed train lines have been targeted. France's President Sarkozy told reporters he will find the Union workers who are targeting the signal connections. President Sarkozy is trying to change/reform the Public Workers Pension system in France. The payouts are out of control and France's tax payers and economy can't take any more tax increases. At the rally he told his backers that foreign groups outside of Russia are trying to influence the Russian election to be held on December 2nd, 2007. Putin can not run for President again. 11/25/07. 20 years ago today, the first African American Mayor of Chicago died. His name is Mayor Harold Washington. He passed away on November 25th, 1987. He was a Great Mayor!
11/25/07. The fires in Malibu caused by Human error or arson and the Santa Anna Winds have burned down 49 structures/homes, damaged 27 homes and displaced/evacuated approximarelt 12,500 residents in the area. Currently 4,700 acres have been on fire. Six out of 1,700 firefighters have been injured. No deaths. Equipment used to fight these fires, are 15 helicopters and 15 airplanes. One airplane is a DC-10 Jet equiped to fight fires around the world. California Fire Investigators this fire is man made, either arson or accident. More to come, stay tune.
11/25/07. President of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Oklahoma, the founder's son Richard Roberts has resigned due to accusations of funneling University funds to pay for his lavish life style. He stole the money that was allocated to the University. He also hired an accountant to hide the theft. The founder of the Christian University and father of the University's President, Oral Roberts had to come out of retirement to keep the University going. The Christian University was built by Oral Roberts in 1963. He told investors that God told him that AMERICA needs this University. They make all students sign an ethics contract. The average cost per year to atted this Private Christian University is around $30,000 dollars per year. The University accepts Federal Funds as well. Gradutes of Oral Roberts University are sent all over the world to preach and assist poor countries with special projects. Recently three of the Universities Boad of Regents are currently under federal investigations for fraud. They are preachers on television, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, and Benny Hinn. 11/25/07. The new school bus size European owned laboratory named Harmony has been connected to the International Space Station. All the electrical and fluid wires were attached by Astronaunts, Commander Peggy Whitson, and Danniel Tani by a space walk to complete the job. This is the third space walk since the Shutle Discovery left the International Space Station on Nvember 5th, 2007. The third Artronaunt is Russian Yuri Malenchenko who managed the controls in the Space Station. The Shutle Atlantis is scheduled to blast off on December 6th, 2007. More to come, stay tune.

11/18/07. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Negroponte has told President of Pakistan, Musharaff to halt Marshal Law and to reinstate their court system in Pakistan. Musharaff has siad that this is not the time to back down from terrorists. He has sent 15,000 troops to defend a region near Afghanistan/Pakistan border taken over by al Queda. 11/17/07. 13 Chicago licensed tow truck drivers have been caught on tape stripping the cars they have towed off the streets of Chicago. Cars stolen could reach in the thousands. It is believed that Chicago police were protecting some of these tow truck drivers. Chicago's Mayor Daley has not commented on this last scandel. More to come, stay tune.
11/17/07. The FAA has announced that Air Delays are unacceptable. To fix the problem this Thanksgiving holiday, the 43rd President has opened a few military air paths for commercial airlines to use. This should assist the airlines to do a better job scheduling their flights. Cutomers flying are used to waiting hours at the airports of America because of constant flight delays. The FAA, managed by Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters has implemented fines to any Airline delaying their flights. 1. Any Airline 15 minutes late/delayed 70% of the time will pay a $25,000 fine. 2. More Air Traffic Controllers to be hired and trained. 3. $600 to $800 fines for bumping customers from their flights. 11/17/07. The State Department has found present staff that volunteered to work in Iraq. There were 48 vacancies in Iraq. Most of the workers in the State Department told Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice they would not serve in Iraq. They cited, Iraq is to dangerous. To work in the State Department, a worker does take an oath to serve where the United States sends them. They are placed where they are needed.
11/17/07. Three Star Army General, Kip Ward has made his 4th Star. He is only the fourth Four Star General that is African American. He has 36 years experience in the Army, serving Palestine, Korea, the Balkins and along with detailed operations all over the world. The 43rd President has created a special Army department dedicated to serving the continent of Africa. It is called Africa Command or afracom. General Ward is in charge of this important operation. The operations africom is to perform is humantarian in nature. Medical support, security support and the Army will teach African armies to be more professional and disciplined. The breakdown is as follows. 31.2 million to drive even though gas prices are 85% higher on average than last year. 11/21/07. The Supreme Court will hear a Washington, DC case on a 35 year old hand gun ban in their city. The Plaintiff is Shelly Parker who believes she has the right to carry a hand gun under the 2nd Amendment. The last time the Supreme Court ruled on a 2nd Amentment case was 70 years ago. 11/21/07. PACE bus workers includng drivers and mechanics serving the northern and some western suburbs around the Chicagoland area have walked out/strike that was unexpected. Their Union, Teamsters Local 731 called the strike on this busiest traveling day of the year. They represent 220 drivers and mechanics on strike. 22,000 riders will be effected every day Union drivers on strike. PACE will not put any busses on the streets in that area until the strike is over. The Southwest suburbs who get PACE service will not be effected. More to come, stay tune.
11/21/07. In Illinois the Cook County Board of Commissioners is looking into raising fees and taxes on Cook County residents. On their agenda is to raise Motor Vehicle Weights, Hotel, Fuel, Parking, Licensed properties like boats, aytos, trucks, businesses, etc. This would raise $125 million dollars.

That's what the King of Spain, Juan Carlos told President of Venezuella, Hugo Chavez to do when he kept on interupting the summit meeting in Chile last week. 11/20/07. The United Kingdom's Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has boldly announced his plans to start the change of Britain's economy to become a low carbon economy. He has even open a full department to work and push this goal. They are competing with Germany. Britain's renewable energy is currently at the 5% level. Prime Minister Gordon Brown's vision is to get Britain at 45% in the next 10 years. The big question is if he could move the Brits to his vision? The President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy is trying to implement a reform version of public transit pensions. So far the transit system in France has lost in Euros over €100 million. 11/19/07. PetroChina's share price soared on Shanghai's feverish stockmarket following the offering of just over 2% of its shares. At one point, the company was considered the most valuable company in the world at one trillion dollars. That's Exxon Mobil, Shell and BP combinded. 11/19/07. The city of Detroit, Michigan is listed as the most dangerous city in the U.S.A. with a population 75,000 or more. This list is compiled from the FBI monitoring 378 cities across America. The second most dangerous city is St. Louis Mo., 3rd is Flint, Michigan. On a side note, Detroit has lost 1 million residents since 1950. The three safest cities are (1.)( Mission Viejo, CA. (2.) Clarkstown, N.Y. (3.) Brick Township N.J. Excluded on the list is Chicago and Minneapolis due to incomplete data given to the FBI.
11/19/07. Chicago Police in another scandel. Warrants were not used and were not executed properly to pick up potential criminals in the last five years. This scandel could have been going on for decades. Nothing new to alot of residents of Chicago. Mayor Daley had no comments.

Discovery ends its 15 day mission by fixing a torn wing and getting the addition, Harmony attachd to the International Space Station. 11/07/07. Former Govenor of Illinois, George Ryan to report to Federal Prison in Oxford, Wisconsin today by 5pm. The jail is a dorm style prison. His corruption sentence is 6 1/2 years. He does know another felon spending time at the jail. That is Mickey Siegal, the once Chicago Insurance Mogul. Merrill Lynch said it would take $8.4 billion dollars in writeoffs from collateralised debt obligations and other sub-prime related assets including leveraged loans which is larger than the $5 billion dollars it forcasted they would write off on October 5th, 2007. The $3.4 billion dollar additional writeoff was just delayed to keep investors happy in October. The investment bank also reported its first quarterly net loss from continuing operations in the last six years. $2.3 billion dollars. Expect thousands of employee layoffs around the world. By the way, FHA has come back into the market to write loans that sub-prime borrower's once went to. Their guidelines are much better than years past and have been modernized. 11/06/07. Another winner from the launch of the iPhone was AT&T, which is the exclusive carrier for the device in the United States. It's quarterly net profit rose by 42% compared with the same period last year in 2006. Around 40% of iPhone buyers/subscribers were new AT&T customers.

11/06/07. Former Govenor of Illinois, George Ryan has been ordered last week to report to prison by tomorrow. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals handed down that order by Judge Diane Wood. Since then former Govenor Ryan has had his team of lawyers sucessfully win a judgement from the U.S. Supreme Court. That judgement to be handed down today. Oxford, Wisconsin where a Federal Prison is located is waiting to hear what the final verdict re. his appeal will be. More to come, stay tune.
11/06/07. Chicago Aldermen have passed Mayor Daley's tax and fee increases. The vote was 16 to 6. Mayor Daley's 2008 budget increases Chicago Resident's Property taxes by at least $60. Bottle of Water has a 5 cent tax, Bottle of wine has a 6 cent additional tax, and a pack of beer has a 7 cent additional tax. Lease taxes has increased. 11/05/07. Sales of existing homes in America slumped by 8% in September, compared with August, to just over 5 million at an annual rate. Compared with September 2006, sales were down by more than 19%. The figures were much worse than had been expected.
11/05/07. The European Court of Justice overturned a 47 year-old regulation in Germany that protects Volkswagen from takeovers. The decision was hailed as a victory by those wanting to dismantle protectionist barriers in Europe. The "Volkswagen law", which limits the voting rights of any one investor to 20%, was designed to protect the interests of Lower Saxony, Volkswagen's second-biggest shareholder and the site of its main factory. Porsche, VW's largest shareholder, will now likely pursue a takeover.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and President Musharraf wants to protect that arsenal. al Queda has been in his country kidnapping soldiers and cutting their head offs. The declared state of emergency was a necessary step in keeping the country from these terrorists. Pakistan is an allie of the United States. Since 2001, the U.S.A. has given Pakistan $11 billion dollars to fight terrorists. Thousands of people protesting the President have been arrested/detained. 11/03/07. The CTA has been bailed out from the State of Illinois and the Federal Government. $27 million dollar grant has been issued to the CTA. This will cover the Chicago Transit Authority till the end of December 2007. This is not a loan, it is a true grant that the CTA does not have to pay back. Other tax increases include: 11% property tax, 16% increase to water and sewer charges, 5% bottled water tax, 45% alcohol tax and $2.50 increase to phone surcharges resulting in a $276 Million total tax increase to Chicago residents.
11/14/07. Cardinal Frances George of Chicago has been elected as the new President of the US Catholic Bishops. He received 86% of the vote. A group of Catholic victims of child molestation have said that they feel he is the wrong man for the job because he has stifled past investigations of child molestation. 11/13/07. Wal Mart Inc, the 3rd largest retailer, reported third quarter profits that surpassed Wall Street projections. Wal Mart business spiked 5.6% as it heads into the Holiday Shopping Season. Chief Executive Officer Lee Scott commented that the company's focus on pricing is paying off.

11/11/07. In Illinois the new I355 tollway extension opened today for thousands of bikers. Officially open to vehicles tomorrow morning. The 12 miles of new tollway cost was $750 million dollars. It took two years to complete. It will extend from I55 to I88. Now Will County drivers will have direct access to O'Hare Airport. Automobile drivers IPass cost will be $1 dollar. The official name for the New Tollway is VETERANS MEMORIAL Tollway.
11/11/07. Illinois Junior Senator and Presidential Canidate Barack Hussein Obama wants to raise payroll taxes on workers. He has no detailed plan but will be working on the plan to raise payroll taxes on the American worker. He told reporters that he has no records on all the money he has recieved from Lobbyists durng his time in Illinois and early on in Washington. He blamed not having a scheduler to keep records. Are those records lost or misplaced? Or does he not recall? Are these lobby money under the table? Candidate Obama has recieved millions of dollars from big time private and corporate donors. Remember his great friend for over a decade, Tony Rezko, a real estate developer that has been in trouble with Federal authorities in Chicago. Rezko got federal contracts/funds for his real estate deals while he cheated poor renters in Chicago. The money was to go to those poor renters. 11/11/07. Democratic Presidential Candidate, Govenor Bill Richardson told reporters today that he wants to increase the military by three divisions. Two new divisions in the Army and One new Marine Division. He wants to create a multiple Muslim country peace keeping force to keep Iraq stable. He wants to bring 90% of our troops out if Iraq and deploy them in Afghanistan and other countries to shore up our presence in other countries. He wants to bring a third of our troopps home. His work/duties in jail will include cleaning toilets, sweeping, snow shoveling and cutting grass. He will earn .16 cents an hour. I expect him not to do the entire 6 1/2 year sentence.
